Sports in Atherstone

Members of Atherstone Adders Hockey Club are moving this March in aid of a number of local causes.

The 'Move in March' fundraiser is seeing over 100 club members run, walk or cycle both for fun and to raise money for charity.

Atherstone Adders Ladies Firsts welcomed Warwick Ladies Firsts on an extremely wet October day this Saturday.

Atherstone started well, putting pressure on the visitors; with great link up play from Lucy Dormand, Rachel Probert and Emma Snowdon, almost seeing Atherstone take an early lead.

Atherstone Adders Ladies Seconds remain unbeaten this season following a 0-0 draw with top of the table Rugby and East Warkwickshire Ladies Thirds this weekend.

It was a gutsy performance from all, despite the pouring rain and howling wind.

It was a busy day for the Atherstone Adders Mens first team this Saturday.

The day began with a celebration ceremony with the Mayor of Atherstone and the High Sheriff of Warwickshire in honour of the teams EH Knockout Cup victory, then it was the small matter of a top of the table battle with local rivals, Ashby.

It was Martin Webb's turn to score a hat-trick this week as Atherstone Adders Mens Firsts maintained their 100 percent record in the League and cruised past a spirited Notts Uni side. There were also goals from Ben Matthews, Cameron Hobbs and Alex Kotlarzewski as the Adders scored six goals for the second week in a row.

Warwick Ladies Seconds 0 v 2 Atherstone Ladies Firsts

Atherstone Adders Ladies firsts were up nice and early for a trip to the posh ends to play Warwick this weekend. Match sticks were required for some players (Emma Snowdon), however the team were ready to go with the aim for three points.

Having beaten Sikh Union 4 - 3 last time out, the mens firsts hosted Warwick Seconds this week in the hope of making it two from two at the start of the new season.

There was clearly no problem in this, as close-season signing from Harborne, Alex Kotlarzewski, scored his first Adders hat-trick as the team overcame a strong Warwick side 6 - 1 this weekend.

Following last week's success against Coventry and North Warwick, Atherstone Adders Ladies Seconds were hoping they could repeat this against Long Buckby this weekend.

Far more players were available this week meaning that the Ladies seconds didn't have to call in extra strength from the L1's on the pitch, but they did come down in full voice to support from the sidelines.

Atherstone Adders' Mens First and Second teams were in action for the first league games of the season this weekend. The newly-promoted first team were lining up in the East Midlands Premier for the first team, against a determined Sikh Union Firsts. Whilst the seconds of both clubs lined up against each other in what was also to prove a tough match for the Atherstone outfit.

A disjointed Atherstone Adders Ladies Seconds were in action today against Coventry and North Warwick. Their second league game of the season, the ladies were hoping to build on their 1-0 defeat of Edgbaston the week before.
