Members of Atherstone Adders Hockey Club are moving this March in aid of a number of local causes.

The 'Move in March' fundraiser is seeing over 100 club members run, walk or cycle both for fun and to raise money for charity.

Each team within the club, from junior teams to the senior squads, is being encouraged to move over 1,000 miles between March 1 and 31.

As club members are completing their exercises, donations are being made via a JustGiving page, which can be found here. As each donation comes in, donors are asked to recommend which charity the club should support; at the end of the month the top five charities will be selected.

There will be recognition for the team that covers the most distance, spends the most time exercising and there will also be individual achievements and challenges set as the month progresses.

Every single exercise is being tracked on Strava and a league table for individuals as well as teams is coming together as the event closes in on the finish. At the halfway point the club had run a collective 3791.97 miles!

Atherstone Adders has said: "we would like to reach out to others and to do something to help local families and individuals who have found themselves struggling financially, physically and mentally.

"As well as individuals getting back into shape, the club is challenging each of our hockey teams (including all of our Junior and Badger teams) to raise a total of £5,000 during the month of March, to donate to local charities and organisations."
