Having beaten Sikh Union 4 - 3 last time out, the mens firsts hosted Warwick Seconds this week in the hope of making it two from two at the start of the new season.
There was clearly no problem in this, as close-season signing from Harborne, Alex Kotlarzewski, scored his first Adders hat-trick as the team overcame a strong Warwick side 6 - 1 this weekend.
Despite going a goal behind, the Adders showed great fighting spirit and excellent game management as they ended the day as comfortable winners.
Despite the home side controlling the game from the start it was the visitors who went ahead from a short corner after 15 minutes. The ball fell kindly to a Warwick forward in the D after a fine initial save from Will Murphy. He gratefully scooped the ball into the empty net before the goalie could recover.
It took just a minute for the Adders to regain parity when Cameron Hobbs deflected a cross from the right into the net past the unsighted Warwick keeper.
From then on it was all Adders, the scoreline down being kept low due only to some smart goalkeeping from Warwick.
With regular short corner specialist Martin Webb on the sideline, Alex Kotlarzewski took control and gave the Adders the lead as half time approached.
Then a superb team goal, finished by Ben Matthews, but superbly assisted by Daman Johal and Josh Wagg put the home side 3-1 up. This was then followed by a deflected Kotlarzewski goal which gave the Adders a comfortable half time lead.
In the second half the Adders once again took control of the game and could have had several more goals, but for more some superb goalkeeping and some poor Adders finishing.
However the side did strike twice more, once from Alex Kotlarzewski - who competed his hat-trick - and then from Josh Wagg who fired the ball home from the top of the D to round off an excellent individual performance and strong team performance.
