Atherstone candidates for May county council elections announced

Candidates for the North Warwickshire Wards at the upcoming Warwickshire County Council elections have today (April 9) been announced.

Local candidates will contest Atherstone, Hartshill and Mancetter, and Baddesley and Dordon wards on May 6.

The WCC elections will take place on the same day as Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Atherstone Town Council, and North Warwickshire Borough Council elections.

Atherstone Ward

Cllr Neil Dirveiks (Labour) will stand again for the Atherstone seat which he has held since 2013.

He will contest:

Mejar Singh - Conservative

Luke Haslam - Green Party

Hartshill and Mancetter Ward

Conservative Cllr Margaret Bell, a county councillor since 2017, will stand to retain her seat.

She will contest:

Bob Copland - Labour

Joshua Smith - Green

Baddesley and Dordon Ward

Incumbent Cllr Andrew Wright (Conservative) will not stand for election again in the Baddesley and Dordon Ward.

As such the two candidates will be:

Smita Kaur Jalaf - Labour

Andy Wright - Conservative
