Householders in Atherstone were threatened by burglars brandishing a knife and screwdrivers in the early hours of this morning (Mon).

The offenders tried to gain entry to the home in Stratton Street at around 1am.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: "Offenders armed with a knife and screwdrivers tried to gain access to a house.

"The occupants of the house were threatened with offenders demanding the key to their car.

"The offenders failed to gain entry and left empty handed.

"Detectives would like to identify a BMW that was in the area at the time and are appealing for anyone in the area with CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact Warwickshire Police via the website or by calling 101, quoting incident 10 of 5 October 2020.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
