'Thank you for kind words and support': Sutton Cheney dining pub closed after staff member tests positive for coronavirus

By James Smith 6th Oct 2020

A popular village dining pub near Atherstone which has closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus has thanked customers for their 'kind words and support'.

Hercules Revived, in Sutton Cheney, announced that it had to close because employees requiring to self-isolate had left it short-staffed.

It is aiming to reopen next Tuesday (13 Oct).

The initial Facebook announcement reads: "Unfortunately, we have been informed this morning [Sun] that one of our staff members has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We have immediately responded to this information by closing the pub today.

"We are following all of the government guidelines and we have instructed all staff members that worked in close proximity to the person to self-isolate for two weeks.

"Unfortunately this means that we will be unable to open next week as this has left us too short-staffed to operate.

"Our absolute priority is to protect our customers and staff and we will endeavour to reopen on Tuesday, 13 October.

"This is a very difficult time for all of us and we thank you for your continual support and understanding."

Dozens of well-wishers messaged to offer their support and yesterday (Mon) evening owner Oliver Warner responded on behalf of himself and the team.

"Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support during this difficult time," he says.

"Understandably, some people have been very concerned...but please rest assured that we have contacted all people that could have been affected.

"We have closed until 13 October to be as safe as possible and we have taken all precautions to ensure that we will be able to open again safely.

"We are happy to report the staff member is doing well.

"Thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you back soon."
