Warwickshire County Council has confirmed that Atherstone's closest recycling centre will remain open during the third national lockdown.

Following the government's announcement on Monday (January 4) WCC has confirmed that Lower House Farm and the other eight recycling centres in the county will remain open during the latest lockdown.

Visits to the centre will continue to be by appointment only.

Lower House Farm is also one of just three centres in the county that also allow bookings for cars with small trailers, alongside Lower Cherry Orchard, Kenilworth and Burton Farm, Stratford.

Trailers must be single axle and unbraked.

Normal slots are for 15 minutes; slots for trailers are for 30.

However, the lockdown does mean that the reuse shops at Lower House Farm does have to close. Charity partners Age UK have requested that preloved items are stored at home until the shops can reopen and accept donations again.

Cllr Heather Timms, portfolio holder for Environment and Heritage and Culture said: "The booking system that Warwickshire County Council have installed and developed for all of our recycling centres has allowed us to offer controlled, safe and socially distanced visits to the recycling centres during the pandemic.

"Having the ability to manage visitor numbers and stay in close contact with keen recyclers who have booked appointments, means we can be confident in continuing to operate our sites safely.

"Thank you to everyone at home and at the recycling centres in Warwickshire who are recycling more than ever and helping to protect the environment and reduce our impact on climate change."
