An Atherstone residential home specialising in dementia care is offering to provide an "essential items" package for vulnerable people caught up in the chaos of coronavirus as businesses rise to challenge of helping the community through the crisis.
And award-winning Merevale House is also calling on workers who have lost their jobs through enforced pub and restaurant closures to get in touch as it has a vacancy for a cook.
The Old Watling Street-based home, which has been in lockdown mode for a fortnight with no visitors allowed to enter their four premises, also asked Nub News to highlight it has care worker vanacies with a number of staff in self-isolation.
Registered manager Nicki Culverwell said: "We are making packs up of essential items for vulnerable people in the local community.
"Please get in touch if you are vulnerable, or you know someone who would benefit from one of our packs."
The home, which has won an array of awards for innovation and best practice as well as winning global recognition at a G8 summit discussion on dementia during David Cameron's time as UK prime minister, can be contacted on 01827 718831 or email [email protected]
Meanwhile from today, cordon bleu restaurant San Giovanni, is "giving something back" to the community – delivering free hot meals to those in need to its own village of Sheepy Parva plus Pinwall, Sheepy Magna, Sibson and Ratcliffe Culey.
The locally-famous eatery is also producing a reduce-priced menu from 12noon until 9pm on a daily basis. To take advantage, call 01827 881000 or email [email protected]
The Blue Lion at Witherley is providing a Monday to Saturday takeaway service 12 noon until 2pm and again from 6pm to 9pm. Call 07468 332368 to order.
The White Hart in Ridge Lane (01827 712038) is also offering a delivery service from its kitchens.
