Adders have chance of a G-up tonight as springboard to FA Vase crunch tie
Atherstone Town will have no time tonight to bask in the after-glow of taking the plaudits for their incredible run of form in January.
Winning the Midland Football League Division One's Team of the Month Awards for January will be forgotten by the time the Adders run out to tackle 13th-placed Coventry Copsewood tonight at The Pavilion. (kick-off 7.45pm).
Their away opponents present the Community FC side with an opportunity to "get back in the saddle" after slipping to a 2-0 defeat against NKF Burbage.
Manager Scott Rickards has a tough ask – as he juggles resources for an assault on a top four promotion slot in the league while the tantalising prize of an FA Vase final is now just three games away.
Adders cannot afford to relax against the Gs – even with between two and six games in hand on the teams they are chasing.
But if Coventry can be despatched without incident presenting them with a "big three points", then Atherstone can rely on their big-match temperament to topple Midland Premier rivals Worcester City in the Buildbase Vase Fifth Round tie on Saturday at Sheepy Road.
Worcester boss Ashley Vincent must be worried as Atherstone – the lowest-placed team left in the competition – put out tournament favourites Stockton Town in the last round. Vincent sees the Adders as "always performing" in the top clashes and his side also suffer from travel sickness – just two victories away from home in the league this season.
Nub News will bring you a further preview ahead of Saturday's huge clash.
