Students from Midland Academies Trust schools in Nuneaton are celebrating as GCSE grades are revealed today. Around 440 students at Hartshill School, The Nuneaton Academy and The George Eliot School received grades for over 21 different qualifications including maths and English. Grades were decided by teachers this year following the cancellation of GCSE exams for the second consecutive year.

Simon Lomax, Executive Principal for the Midland Academies Trust said, "Both 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years for our students and I am proud of the way that they have continued with their studies thanks to the ongoing and professional support of their teachers.

"The cancellation of GCSE exams was disappointing, but we are confident that the grades decided by our teaching staff accurately reflect the achievement of our students and reward them for their progress throughout the year."

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Chief Executive of the Midland Academies Trust said, "Achieving well at GCSE, especially in the core subjects of maths and English, is so important to students' future progress. Our teachers have set high expectations of all our students which was maintained whether they were in school or working from home this year, and they have consistently been supported to maintain their learning and continue to progress.

"Our focus will now be on supporting our students to ensure that they progress to the next stage of education, training, or employment. Many congratulations to everyone who has received their results today, and we wish them the best of luck for their futures."
