A man remains in a critical condition after an assault in Witherley on Friday night (25 Sept).

Police were called to Hunt Lane at 11.15pm following a report a 20-year-old man had been assaulted in the grounds of a property.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said 18-year-old Jay White, of Croft Road, Nuneaton, was arrested on Sunday (27 Sept) evening and charged with Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court yesterday (Tues).

"A 17-year-old youth and 21-year-old man also arrested in connection with the incident were released with no further action.
