Annual subscriptions for council garden waste collection services have opened today (February 15) for Atherstone residents.

Households can now sign up for North Warwickshire Borough Council's garden waste services for £40 for fortnightly collections from April 2021 to the end of March 2022.

The fee will remain at £40 regardless of when households register, so make sure to do so soon.

Once subscribed, the council will then send residents a permit sticker to put on their bin.

The sticker should arrive within 10 working days of payment.

Once this has been received it can be stuck on the back of your green bin below the handle, so that the crews can see it when they come to do the collections.

Bins can then be put out on your normal collection day before 6.30am.

What you can put in your green lidded bin:

Grass cuttings

Leaves

Weeds and flowers

Twigs and small branches

Pet bedding from herbivorous animals (wood shavings, hay and straw)

Christmas Trees (cut in to pieces)

All raw and cooked food (including meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, bones, dairy, bread and pastries, tea bags and coffee grounds) What you can't put in your green lidded bin:

Dog poo and cat litter (bag it and put it in your black bin)

Soil or turf

Ash (bag it and put it in your black bin)

Bricks and rubble

Plastic bags (black bin)

Any other plastics including plant pots and garden furniture
