A 48 year-old man has been arrested and charged with drink driving following a collision in Holly Lane, Atherstone yesterday evening (February 8).

Two fire crews from Atherstone Fire Station were called to the scene but reported that no persons were trapped and that they made the scene safe.

Warwickshire Police arrested the man shortly after and the lamppost was secured before officials left the scene.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service tweeted: "Two crews from Atherstone are attending an incident on Holly Lane where a car has collided with a lamppost.

"There are no persons trapped, crews are making the scene safe. The council are attending to make safe the lamppost."
