An Atherstone haulage business has added another string to its bow in what could become a new direction for the company.

Family-run Ball Truckin has invested in its first tipper truck and is supporting quarries involved in the HS2 project.

Alan Ball, director and transport manager of the Abeles Way firm, told Atherstone Nub News: "The new tipper truck was purchased as a possible new venture.

"It is currently working across the Midlands supporting local quarries with the huge HS2 project that is taking place.

"We may look to expand in this particular area, but we are just testing the waters at the moment.

"We have employed a new driver specifically for this role."

The Abeles Way firm has also employed several more drivers to work in the bakery transport area of the business in anticipation of the busy Christmas period.

Ball Truckin was named one of just five 'Trucking Legend' companies in the country for going the extra mile during the coronavirus crisis.

The accolade awarded by SNAP, which provides cashless payment solutions across the haulage sector, was voted for by the transport industry.

Ball Truckin received a huge volume of votes not only because Mr Ball got behind the wheel to help out the team, but because it wrapped two of its trailers in tribute to the NHS.
