FLYAWAY DESTINATIONS NAMED FROM ALICANTE TO WARSAW

RYANAIR AND JET2 ALREADY 'ON BOARD' WHILE TUI'S TAKE-OFF IS EARMARKED FOR BEGINNING OF NEXT MONTH

ATHERSTONE holidaymakers still dreaming of getting away for the area's traditional holiday fortnight have 50 reasons to be cheerful.

Passenger flights have resumed from East Midlands Airport and are currently transporting people to the most popular holiday destinations in Europe and beyond.

Ryanair and Jet2.com have already started operating from EMA and, judging by the number of passengers arriving for flights, people are keen to get away. TUI re-starts its operations on August 1.

Between them, the passenger airlines that fly to and from EMA are just a short drive from anywhere in North Warwickshire.

And with great deals to be had on flight prices, this might be the summer to grab a bargain if you have a valid passport and are comfortable with the post-lockdown measures in place for travelling to your European destinations.

Passengers can pass through the Donington airport in the knowledge that measures are in place to help keep them safe. These include mandatory face coverings, regular deep cleaning, adherence to social distancing where possible, hand sanitisers, and Perspex screens between passengers and airport staff.

As passenger footfall increases, the airport's shops and restaurants are opening up too, giving people a choice of places to eat and drink and buy snacks, as well as browsing duty free and other shops.

The 50 destinations served by flights from EMA (correct as of July 15 and subject to change) are:

Bulgaria

Jet2.com chief executive Steve Heapy says the "sun will shine again", adding that when it does "we will be there to take customers away on their well-deserved holidays".
