Atherstone haulier named trucking legend for being 'on the Ball' during coronavirus pandemic
SPECIAL APPLAUSE FOR TOWN FIRM AND ITS BOSS AFTER TRIBUTE TO KEY WORKER HEROES
BIG 'THANK YOU' FOR ABELES WAY BUSINESS IN GOING THE EXTRA MILE
AN ATHERSTONE haulage business which showed the whole of Britain and Europe how much it values NHS heroes and key workers has been recognised for going the "extra mile" during the coronavirus crisis.
Family-run Ball Truckin is one of five companies in the country to be feted by SNAP, which provides cashless payment solutions across the sector.
The Abeles Way firm has been named a 'Trucking Legend' by SNAP, which thought the front-line efforts of companies deserved a pat on the back and asked members of the transport industry to nominate the top candidates for the accolade via its Facebook page and website.
Ball Truckin received a huge volume of votes not only because director and transport manager Alan Ball got behind the wheel to help out the team but also because the company wrapped two of its trailers in tribute to the NHS.
As a reward, Ball Truckin staff and drivers received bespoke care packages including one month's credit with audio book provider Audible, cleansing wipes, energy bars, coffee and a week of free SNAP parking.
Mr Ballm who started the business in 2003 and now has an 80-strong workforce, said: "Our drivers have been working around the clock to supply manufacturers and supermarkets across the country, as well as our NHS 'thank you' trailers that we put together to support health heroes and key workers – which have been so well received by the community.
"It has been wonderful to be included and for our drivers to receive the care packages."
The 48-year-old added: "But it is also humbling to see the dedication and hard-work of all key workers and we hope that some of them have seen our message of support as the trailers travel across the country."
Mark Garner, SNAP's managing director added: "We are delighted to be in a position where we can celebrate and recognise the industry's hard work and efforts during this time."
The news comes just 24 hours after the nation paid a special #ClapForCarers by applauding to mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS.
