With so many of the usual festive activities having to be cancelled this year, Atherstone residents have been given the chance to watch the town transform for the Christmas period courtesy of a video by 'The Stone Channel.'

The video shows the town preparing for December, with the Mayor of Atherstone Cllr Denise Clews persuading Father Christmas to switch on the town's lights for what would have been the 35th year of the Dickens Event.

The light switch on has also been dedicated to Cllr Lorna Dirveiks who sadly passed away this year.

The virtual festivities will continue this weekend. On Saturday December 5, at 7pm Father Christmas will be live on the Stone Channel's YouTube account reading the many messages from the children of Athertsone.
