A fortnight of free art events in Kenilworth, Coventry and Warwickshire will start this weekend.

Warwickshire Open Studios' annual Summer Art Weeks will begin on Saturday, June 19 and run until 4 July.

The weeks will allow local amateur and professional artists to showcase their work at a place of their choosing.

Galleries can be opened at home, in a studio, workshop or in one case this year, a canal barge.

The event also gives artists complete flexibility about when they choose to be open during the fortnight.

This year is the 21st anniversary of WOS.

Given the cancellation of the 2020 event, organisers are this year allowing artists to take part both in person and online.

In 2019, Summer Art Weeks attracted more than 31,000 visitors to see various art media across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Don Mason, Warwickshire Open Studios director, said: "Opening your studio or home, or joining in with a group, has so many benefits for our artists.

"It's a great, low cost option to show people your work, and share your techniques and inspirations. This helps build a network with current and potential collectors, and will also hopefully lead to sales.

"Gathering feedback and talking to others about your art is incredibly rewarding and invaluable in developing your practice and growing your confidence."
