HEALTHY BABY BOY DELIVERED THIS MORNING TO PM AND HIS FIANCEE

ATHERSTONE'S civic head joined the rest of the nation in "congratulating" Boris Johnson and fiancée Carrie Symonds on the birth of a "healthy" baby who has the NHS to thank, in no small part, for the Prime Minister's recovery from the jaws of coronavirus.

Councillor David Wright sent his Tory national leader "best wishes" from North Warwickshire as the London hospital birth was announced this morning.

A spokesman for the couple said: "Both mother and baby are doing fine.

"The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team."

Councillor Wright, Atherstone Town Council chairman and borough council leader, said he was sure that Mr Johnson would reflect on the brilliant NHS staff who cared for him when he was in intensive care at Thomas's Hospital – but for them he might not have seen his new baby son.

"Boris has spoken about how it 'could have gone either way' when he was admitted to hospital with persistent coronavirus symptoms – and how much was indebted to the frontline staff," added Cllr Wright

As for name, Nub News suggests Mr Johnson's hero 'Winston' might get a look in.
