Signed copy of Mancetter-based book free with high tea, at The Saddlery in Atherstone throughout August
The Saddlery tea rooms in Atherstone have partnered up with a local author, in order to offer an exciting signed copy of a book on Warwickshire walks.
The exclusive copies are free to anybody who purchases their high-tea experience, for £18.95.
Angela Spencer, of the Saddlery, described the book as 'superb'.
Two local history enthusiasts developed a circular walking route informed by the research they have undertaken for the book, 'Battlefields and Borderlands'.
The area of this route is best known for the Battle of Bosworth, but it also features spots Atherstone locals will know well, such as the picturesque Witherley and Mancetter.
The book spans 2,000 years of British history, and is written by Eddie Smallwood and Michael Dix.
There is also a connection to Dick Turpin featured, as well as several deserted villages from the Medieval era.
Locals will delight in the knowledge that the border between the East Midlands and the West Midlands has a fascinating history of being caught up in battles - some lesser-known than the Battle of Bosworth.
There are references to Lady Godiva that locals will also enjoy, as well as enjoyable connections to Thomas the Tank Engine.
Angela went on to explain that the book is 'one of its kind in its area', as the two historians had collaborated on some local walks, being former Battle of Bosworth Guides armed with unique knowledge.
Make the most of this offer soon, by booking your experience by emailing [email protected] - or visiting The Saddlery Tea Rooms on Atherstone Road!
