Following the announcement of a second national lockdown this weekend by the Prime Minister, Public Health Warwickshire have issued a letter to parents in the county.

The second national lockdown is due to start on Thursday November 5, and last four weeks until December 2.

The letter from Public Health Warwickshire is reminding parents of the symptoms for Covid-19, and urging them to make sure their children remain responsible as schools and universities are set to remain open.

"Coronavirus has three main symptoms; these are; a cough, loss or change in sense of smell or taste or a high temperature.

"When anyone displays these symptoms it is most likely a Coronavirus infection, we therefore ask you to isolate with your household, book a test, and if positive self isolate for 10 days if you were the one who tested positive and 14 days if you are a household contact."

The letter then asks for all unwell children to remain away from school, even if their symptoms are at first do not match the main three.

"However, we have found that many children didn't display the main three signs of Coronavirus; their symptoms were a sore throat, or

feeling really unwell, or muscle aches and pains. "To prevent the transmission of Coronavirus this term, if your child is unwell, please keep them off school until they are feeling better." To read the letter in full please follow this link. The letter comes as the new restrictions received criticism nationally and locally, as a petition has been started to include school closures in the new rules. This has thus far had over 310,000 signatures in the UK, with 298 of those coming from the North Warwickshire constituency.
