Murder enquiry as Nuneaton woman named by Police
A body found in Charnwood has been identified as that of 23-year-old Megan Newborough from Nuneaton.
A 29-year-old man from Coalville has been arrested on suspicion of murder and on suspicion of rape.
Police were called to Charley Road, near Woodhouse Eaves, in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 8) where they found Megan.
She had been reported missing to Warwickshire Police on Saturday afternoon. After further investigation the body was found and the Coalville man arrested.
He was originally arrested on suspicion of murder, but was subsequently re-arrested whilst in custody on suspicion of rape.
Megan's family have asked that their privacy is respected at this time.
A family statement said: "There are no words to describe how much we as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated.
"Megan was the most generous, loving and caring person and we have been robbed of our treasured daughter.
"We are grateful for the support we have received so far but ask that we are allowed to grieve in peace."
Police appeal
Yesterday, an appeal was made for anyone who saw a white Citroen C3 travelling between Coalville and Loughborough to come forward and detectives are still asking for anyone who thinks they can help – but has not yet come forward – to do so.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Kenny Henry, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), said: "First and foremost, my deepest condolences are with Megan's family at this difficult time.
"We're continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding Megan's death and I am still appealing for public help to piece together the information we already have.
"I would ask that anyone who thinks they are able to help but hasn't yet spoken to us to do the right thing and come forward – it's not too late."
