Man arrested after allegedly spitting at police officer in Atherstone

A 25-year-old was arrested in Atherstone last night (March 29) after allegedly spitting at a police officer who was there attending an incident.

The incident occurred on Long Street.

A police statement said: "A police officer was allegedly spat at after he arrested a man following a disturbance at a property in Long Street, Atherstone last night.

"A 25-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and causing criminal damage. He remains in custody."
