North Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch and Warwickshire Police are offering residents of Atherstone the chance to have their bicycles marked for free this week.

As cycling continues to grow in popularity, and the number of bikes purchased increases, sadly so does the number of thefts.

To combat this North Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch in conjunction with Warwickshire Police will be located in the Market Square, Atherstone from 12.30pm until 2.30pm this Wednesday (October 28) to offer free marking and registering of bicycles.

There will also be officers based at Abbey Green Playing Fields Car Park, Polesworth from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Bikes will be registered to the National Database. The idea being that if a bike is stolen and then recovered, it can be returned to the actual owners far quicker.

Bike security locks and alarms will be available to purchase also.
