WEEKEND WATCH GOES IN SEARCH OF THE SUN IN OUR WHISTLESTOP LOOK AT WHAT'S IN STORE WEATHER WISE
PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT FOUR DAYS FROM FRIDAY THROUGH TO MONDAY
WELCOME to Friday Fourcast – with little to cheer about except there's always a good read in Atherstone Nub News whatever it's doing outside.
We aim to bring you a whistlestop look at the weather from Friday through to Monday.
It gives you a chance to plan your next four days, and remember it's the last bank holiday weekend of the year. So, we've got to make the most of it.
Daytime temperatures are predicted to be as low as 10C with something akin to a polar blast.
Ironic, but our night-time temperatures could sneak below freezing while Iceland's are set for as high as 9C
As a result it could make this the coldest August Bank Holiday in 40 years.
The last time the lowest daily maximum temperature hit 10C on a summer bank holiday was in August 1979.
But Atherstone Nub News is bringing you a more localised weather service which you can access from our news platform any time.
FRIDAY: Blowy from the residue of Storm Francis – and an 80 per cent of heavy rain from 6pm. Start the weekend wrapped up. Decidedly chilly at 16C.
SATURDAY: Dry day but, oh, those temperatures. No more than 15C in the day and at night, more like late winter at 7C. Winds easing. Might be an idea to put the central heating timer on for late afternoon.
SUNDAY: Possibly the best day of the four, with no chance of rain and you might see the old currant bun from dawn until mid-day. Then the grey sets in. Top temp 15C.
MONDAY: Well it would be pointless heading for the seaside, as they'll be no sun to speak of anywhere. Grey, grey, overcast day – but dry at least. Chance to mow the lawn and repair the fence panels from Storms Ellen and Francis. Here's to December 25th! High of 16C.
