Eat Out To Help Out: How you can dine out in style at 'half price' across Atherstone

LOCAL RESTAURANTS, CAFES AND PUBS SIGN UP FOR DISCOUNT SCHEME

WHERE TO FIND MONEY OFF YOUR MEALS AND NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS THROUGHOUT AUGUST

EATERIES and diners across Atherstone and district are both hoping to cash in on a Treasury-led super discount scheme from next week.

The hard-hit hospitality industry – still reeling from the impact of coronavirus lockdown – is hoping for a boost from the 'Eat Out to Help Out' plan which runs throughout August.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the ambitious money-off offer on July 8 as part of ground-breaking measures including slashing VAT on food from 20 per cent to five per cent until next January.

The unprecedented project for restaurants, cafes and pubs will allow people who dine out from Monday to Wednesday during next month to benefit from 50 per cent off the price of their meals, up to the value of £10 a head on meals eaten at any participating business.

Businesses can then claim the money back from the Government, with funds in their bank account within five working days.

For those going to the eateries, there's no minimum spend and you don't have to order food to be eligible, for example a £3 coffee would cost £1.50 under the scheme.

The offer, which does not require a voucher and applies to food and non-alcoholic drinks, can be used in combination with any other promotions and discounts being offered by the venue. It runs from August 3-31.

Establishments can choose whether to sign up and will be able to join the scheme at any point.

A number of local establishments have signed up to take part in the scheme.

Those in the area already on board include:

  • The White Horse on Long Street, Atherstone;
  • The Wine Bar in Church Street, Atherstone;
  • Costa Coffee on Long Street, Atherstone
  • Blue Boar Inn on Watling Street, Mancetter; and
  • The Blue Lion on Church Road, Witherley.
You can find out which venues are close to you by entering your postcode here . The website will give you venues that are registered within two miles. If you want to find a postcode in an area not close to your home you can find its postcode via this link. For businesses to be eligible they must have a designated dining or drinking area, or access to one, and have been registered with their local authority since at least July 7, 2020. Businesses that have used the furlough scheme can apply.
