A MALE cyclist suffered multiple injuries when he went over the top of the handlebars and "landed on his face" in an accident on Mancetter's leafly lanes.

He came off his bicycle after a bag became entangled in a wheel, according to one eye witness.

The accident happened in Steppey Lane at the bottom of a tree-lined avenue leading from the Purley Chase Centre.

Kerry Poultney posted on social media he suffered a "nasty injury to his head and ear, a dislocated shoulder and possible broken collar bone".

Four people stopped to help him until the ambulance arrived.

He was treated by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

A hospital spokeswoman was unable to confirm the condition of the cyclist.
