Switch and Save: Can mean hundreds of pounds cut from utility bills

Residents across Atherstone and surrounding villagers have been offered a "Martin Lewis moment" later this month – in a chance to save hundreds of pounds off their gas and electricity bills.

In a similar vein to the TV shows presented by the MoneySavingExpert.com founder, householders can 'Bring Your Bill' to an event being held at the town's library and information centre.

Bill payers can put their trust in a 'Switch and Save' team which will help slash the annual cost on their utilities' statements.

Some local residents already signed up to the Warwickshire County Council-sponsored scheme are set to save an average of £285 per registrant on their bills.

The good news followed a successful reverse auction between competing gas and electricity providers last month.

A county council statement added: "It's also great news for the environment as all the successful providers in the February 2020 reverse auction – Octopus Energy, Together Energy and E.ON – are offering consumers 100 per cent green energy."

In Warwickshire, thousands of households have registered an interest to switch with the scheme and the county's Switch and Savers have been combined with 61 other similar initiatives from all around the UK to create a consumer collective of over 31,000 registered households.

Atherstone Library and information Centre will host the team from Warwickshire Switch and Save and Act On Energy and its 'Bring Your Bill' event on Friday, March 20 from 10am to 2pm.

Deputy leader Peter Butlin said: "This is fantastic news for residents and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to work with partners and other organisations to improve the quality of life for all, particularly some of our more vulnerable residents who worry about the costs of heating their homes.

"Some residents will be paying too much, particularly if they haven't switched supplier for a while, so I'd encourage everyone to sign up and see what offer they receive."
