Atherstone rail incident: 'Person struck by train'

PARADMEDICS and police are responding to an incident in Atherstone in which a person has been "struck by a train", according to railway officials.
London North Western Railway has confirmed that someone been hit by a locomotive and all services halted in the area.
Police vehicles and an ambulance are parked at the town's railway station while an air ambulance has been heard overhead.
A passenger train has been stopped just past Mancetter Bridge towards Atherstone by Westwood Road, according to eye witnesses who also reported an "horrendous noise" coming from the track on the line between the village and the town.
A spokesman for LNR said: "There has been a person struck by a train at Atherstone, hence the attendance of the emergency services.
"We have arranged for road transport and will get this to you as soon as possible."
Another passenger waiting for a train at Atherstone station said all the apps had shown a live timetable until 2.20pm when the 'cancelled' notice came up.
A spokesman for West Midland Ambulance Service told Nub News: "We were called by police at 2:03pm to an incident on the railway line in Atherstone.
"We currently have the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance critical care car at the scene, along with a paramedic officer and the HART team."
