You Nub It: And we
You Nub It: And we

Atherstone Nub News has already reached the parts others couldn't while registering some important landmarks in its short history.

What a welcome – literally – we've had since our arrival last month.

After starting in February, the town's No 1 online news service has clocked up 17,000 new users and 53,000 page views while we have more than 800 followers on Facebook.

Many thanks for all your support over the past four weeks . . . it is greatly appreciated.

Now, we thought it time to tell anyone new to the site what we are all about.

As you can see, we are growing all the time and we want to explain how you can get involved with a site that is about Atherstone and the surrounding villages.

But it is also supporting those communities, which is why you can be a part of it.

We want to be at the heart of the Atherstone community. We want to give a voice and an identity back to the town.

We want to promote local causes and businesses. We want to encourage people back on to the High Street.

Like 'promise the bearer' on the old green £1 notes, our core message is to "keep on nubbing" in terms of delivering the news about you.

Importantly, our business model relies on your input; be it News or What's On.

Our 'Nub It' button enables local people, local chamber of commerce, a town or parish councillor, an MP, the chairman of the rugby or football club or a headteacher to write regular articles.

  • Stories : If you have a tale to tell or know of someone we should be writing about, get in touch. We have already reported on a number of people and companies making news in the area. Our black 'Nub It' button enables anyone to write articles for us. You can input the information directly to us. All submitted content requires a legitimate name, email and telephone number and is moderated by our regional editor Nick Hudson before going live. We will then put it on the site from here. It really is that easy.
  • What's On : Are you organising an event? Let us know. Again, by using the 'nub it' button you can then tell us all about it, we will then publicise this on our website, Facebook page and on Twitter. This is a FREE service and good to know with spring and summer approaching.
  • And there's more in the shape of Classifieds, Property and Jobs. We also have a super-fast section of classfied, jobs and property, all determined to be dedicated to Atherstone and the surrounding area, so there is no need to type in postcodes or your address.
  • And we want to add more features during 2020

We aim to be in the heart of the town and district and give you a voice.

It has been great to see the reaction we have had so far from the community, and we want to make that connection stronger.

We couldn't have put it better than Michael Barber who told us: "I'm really enjoying Atherstone Nub News . . .up to date news . . . sport . . . the lot."

The site is very quick and easy to use on computer or mobile – we like to call it 'Your Town in Your Pocket'. Either use the Nub It button, get in touch via Facebook, Twitter @AtherstoneNub or email [email protected] To go to Atherstone Nub News , click the red button below.
