Atherstone Mayor tribute to Coun Lorna Dirveiks who died this week

Atherstone Mayor Denise Clews has paid tribute to former town councillor Lorna Dirveiks who died this week.

Coun Dirveiks was elected to Atherstone Town Council in May 2015 and was also a Labour North Warwickshire Borough Councillor for 12 years before stepping down in 2019.

"Lorna will be greatly missed by our community with her knowledge of our town," Coun Clews told Atherstone Nub News.

"Also for all her volunteering work with Atherstone Civic Society and The Friends of Atherstone Heritage group and the Heritage Centre on Long Street.

"Lorna was also more recently the inspiration behind the Meadow Street Garden Project celebrating the local Hatting Heritage.

"Lorna will be sadly missed by her fellow councillors on Atherstone Town Council."
