Families looking for a day out this festive season should look no further than the award-winning Twycross Zoo, which on selected dates from Saturday, December 5 to Thursday 24, will be home to a brand new winter wonderland.
In what has certainly been a year that will go down in the history books, the Midlands-based conservation charity is grateful to have made it this far and is encouraging families to round off the end of 2020 year with a well-deserved treat.
During the Christmas Spectacular, visitors can join Mrs Claus in her kitchen for a festive feast, before venturing deep into the North Pole to meet the zoo's elves.
Both adults and children alike should also keep an eye out for the playful penguin colony, who will be waddling around during their daily penguin parade, before joining a sing-along at the Ice Castle with the Ice Queen, followed by a meet with the man himself – Santa!
Guests will be able to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with over 500 animals from 125 species, some of which are the rarest on the planet, and each and every one of them will help to make the event a memorable one.
The 100-acre zoo has residents of all shapes and sizes, from the family of snow leopards, who will be roaming around the Himalaya Centre during their favourite time of the year, to a tremendous towering of giraffes, a pair of critically-endangered Sumatran tigers and an adorable Eastern black rhino duo.
The zoo is also the only place in the UK to see the four great apes, gorilla, orang utan, bonobo and chimpanzee. Visitors can watch in awe as these fantastic animals swing around their habitats, enjoying the festive season with their own primate families.
This event is completely compliant with government guidelines and takes place on Saturday, December 5, Sunday 6, Saturday 12, Sunday 13, Saturday 19, Sunday 20, Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 December, before Santa leaves the zoo for his busiest night of the year!
