Two North Warwickshire community groups have been granted a combined £110,000 to help support young people in the area.

The Ex Mining Villages Partnership, and The Positive Impact Foundation have both been chosen to benefit from Warwickshire County Council's youth work fund.

The fund will see £480,000 shared between nine organisations which provide youth services for 11 to 18-year-olds. The money is to be used to increase youth work.

The Ex Mining Village Partnership has been awarded £51,310, and the Positive Impact Foundation £60,000.

Other organisations offered funding are:

• Escape Arts, Stratford-upon-Avon (£60,000).
• Bradby Youth Club, Rugby (£60,000).
• Aspire in Arts, Nuneaton (£56,260).
• Together for Change, Nuneaton (£59,980).
• Empowr – U, Bedworth (£29,832).
• The Gap Community Centre, Warwick (£59,233).
• Warwickshire Pride (£42,000).

What will funding be used for?

The funding will be used in a variety of ways to support projects which tackle anti-social behaviour, alcohol misuse, alcohol related hospital admissions, bladed weapon use, drug related offences and child exploitation. For example the Ex Mining Villages Partnership will use the funding to increase provision from one night per week to three nights per week and extend delivery to the villages of Hartshill, Polesworth and Dordon. Sarah Deeming, rural youth worker with the Ex Mining Villages Partnership has said that the funding will allow the organisation to reach more young people than ever before. She said: "Our youth workers will be able to offer regular activities, a safe space and support to young people across North Warwickshire and be able to build relationships within the community to help the project be successful and sustainable."
