SO, PAINTERS, PLUMBERS, ROOFERS, SOLICITORS, GARDENERS AND OTHERS, WE’RE WAITING FOR YOU

Dear Atherstone and district,

NON-ESSENTIAL shops in Atherstone and across North Warwickshire have cast off the chains of Covid-19 and are retailing like it’s 1999.
Last week was another important step along the way for deliverance from the lockdown measures forced on all walks of British life by the pandemic.

The big day signalled the next stage of our retail recovery, followed by news of the July 4 easdown.

But is your business missing out on getting in touch with thousands of potential customers who look to Atherstone Nub News for their information about an area rich in heritage and industrial history?

Nub News has been around for four months and in that time has attracted nearly 50,000 unique users and more than 168,000 page views with a Facebook following approaching 1,500 people. Group wide we’ve passed the two million users mark and seven million page views.

We have living through unprecedented times and so we have taken the decision to allow all Atherstone and North Warwickshire businesses and organisations to advertise on Atherstone Nub News for free.

We already have a number of local businesses signed up to our Local Listing section which has been specially adapted for coronavirus.

This will allow Atherstone and North Warwickshire businesses to tell the public “where they are at” in relation to the current crisis, whether they are still open, preparing a restart and what changes they have made to their service.

We will promote these businesses and services in Atherstone Nub News articles and on social media while this crisis continues. We want to keep you, the people of Atherstone and district, informed and help the local businesses.

Even if you’re not open at the moment, we want you to use our platform to communicate with your customers – tell them what the future holds, how you’re doing or even just how you miss them.

Using our ‘Nub It’ button (link below) Atherstone and North Warwickshire businesses and services can enter their details (company picture/logo, website address, business phone number) on to our site.

While our primary function is to offer a news and features ‘your town in your pocket’ service to Atherstone and district, one of our principles is to support local businesses and the High Street.

To add your business/shop/service please click on this link atherstone.nub.news/directory and press the black ‘Nub It’ button:

It is very easy to do and takes very little time.

So, painters, plumbers, roofers, solicitors, gardeners and others, we’re waiting for you . . .

If you have friends or family that run local businesses, please make them aware of this service as they do the best they can to keep their business alive.

The more people this gets around, the more successful, informative and helpful it will be.

Remember, as we grow, we want to constantly remind you who we are and how Nub News is different from other news sites.

Quality local content, no 'click-for-profit' business model, free advertising for local businesses and lots more – we really are one of a kind.

A message from the Editor, Nick Hudson

Hi, I'm Nick Hudson, the Editor of Atherstone Nub News.

I began my local news career almost half a century ago by covering the town for the old Atherstone, Nuneaton & Bedworth Observer. I attended the Shrovetide Ball Game and reported on the old Southern League Premier side Atherstone Town when ex-England keeper Gil Merrick was the manager, coaching a young Gerry Peyton who went on to hold the No 1 jersey for the Republic of Ireland. Later I was to be the first team captain of Atherstone Hockey Club, and its chairman.

I'm now back to my roots and I want you - the great people of Atherstone - to join me in making the news in your own images. We're going back in time to resurrect a bygone golden age of local reporting while embracing all the advantages of the modern digital era where information is available 24/7 with "your town in your pocket".

We're here to get to the heart and soul of the community, delivering local news and covering national issues on your doorstep. There will always be a good read on Atherstone Nub News - because it's about you.

You can contact me with your Atherstone news by phoning 07852 490666 or by emailing [email protected].
