Aldi celebrates eight employees in Atherstone for going the extra mile

To mark the anniversary of the UK's first national lockdown, Aldi is recognising colleagues and employees across the country who have gone above and beyond to support their local community, including eight members of staff in Atherstone.

All Aldi colleagues have worked throughout the pandemic to keep the nation fed, and their efforts have ensured that customers continue to have access to fresh affordable food.

Eight colleagues from the supermarket's head office based in Atherstone are amongst those who have been going the extra mile since the start of the pandemic.

Amy Croxton, Emma Foster and Nakita Lovegrove from the supply chain management team, and Simmi Kaur from the finance team have been nominated for their acts of kindness.

Data Migration Administrator Jack Simmons, Buying Assistant Sally Coughtrey and Property Project Director Secretary Emma Kempson have also received nominations, while Carl Briggs, who works as a driver at the Atherstone regional distribution centre, has also been recognised for his efforts.

Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: "The past year has been incredibly difficult for everyone and we want to thank every single one of our Aldi colleagues for their hard work and commitment throughout.

"Our amazing colleagues across the country are devoted to feeding the nation and have worked tirelessly over the last year, going above and beyond to support their local communities."

Atherstone colleague nominations:

  • Amy Croxton and Nakita Lovegrove, National Supply Chain Management and Services Assistants – nominated for virtually running miles together to raise money and awareness for Dementia.
  • Carl Briggs, Driver at the Atherstone regional distribution centre – nominated for volunteering for the NHS alongside his role at Aldi, taking non-Covid patients to their dentist and hospital appointments.
  • Emma Foster, National Supply Chain Management and Services Assistant – nominated for raising over £350 for Teenage Cancer Trust through a Facebook Fundraiser .
  • Emma Kempson, Project Director Secretary for the national property team – nominated for her work at the Black Country Women's Aid charity during lockdown.
  • Jack Simmons, Administrator for the data migration team – nominated for offering live workouts to help people in the local community keep active.
  • Sally Coughtrey, Buying Assistant – nominated for organising a volunteering programme for her colleagues and friends at a local food bank, Edible Links.
  • Simmi Kaur, Administration Assistant for the national finance team – nominated for helping to run her family's Fish and Chip business during the pandemic.
